Where Engineering Logic Meets Wordsmithing Wizardry
Remember that “non-linear career path” I mentioned? Well, it turns out that jumping from power grids to cybersecurity gives you some pretty interesting perspectives to write about. Who knew that calculating electrical currents would one day help me explain phishing scams in ways that don’t make people’s eyes glaze over?
I translate complex tech concepts, workplace transformations, and economic trends into articles that actual humans can read without developing an immediate headache. My work has appeared in major online publications where I serve as a cultural interpreter between the world of technical jargon and, well, everyone else.
Articles Where I Pretend I’m Not Overthinking Everything
Tech & Cybersecurity (Where My Inner Nerd Thrives)
The Evolution of Phishing: How AI is Reshaping Digital Deception in 2024 In which I explain how scammers are using artificial intelligence, and why your grandmother should absolutely not wire money to that “prince” who emailed her.
Outsmart Identity Thieves Before They Become You A guide to preventing strangers from becoming your digital doppelgängers. Spoiler alert: Your pet’s name plus your birth year does not make a secure password.
The Fallibility of Two-Factor Authentication: Is Your Money Really Safe? That extra security step involving your phone? It’s not foolproof. Don’t panic—but maybe read this before assuming your banking app is Fort Knox.
How to Teach Kids About Cybersecurity Because explaining “don’t click suspicious links” to a generation that intuitively swipes before they can speak requires some finesse.
Hack-Proof Your Finances: How to Protect Your Personal Data Like a Cybersecurity Expert Implementing the paranoia of professional security analysts into your everyday financial life, without needing to wear a tinfoil hat.
Workplace Musings (Based on Extensive Field Research in Corporate Habitats)
Return to Office Policies Can Work—But Not the Way You May Think Turns out forcing everyone back to communal spaces to stare at the same screens they used at home isn’t the productivity magic bullet some hoped for. Who could have possibly predicted this?
Navigating Retirement: Generations Redefine the Future of Work and Leisure How different generations are approaching the concept of retirement, from Baby Boomers “unretiring” to Gen Z treating careers like a series of sprints rather than one marathon to exhaustion.
Society & Economics (Where My Obsession with Human Behavior Gets Professional Cover)
“They’re Not Shortcuts”: How Weight Loss Drugs Became the Business of Shame Examining how the quest for quick fixes became a multi-billion dollar industry built on making us feel terrible about ourselves. Capitalism at its finest!
Why Homeownership is Rougher for Millennials Than Gen Z A data-driven look at housing market chaos and why timing matters more than avocado toast consumption. Sorry, Millennials—we really did get the short end of the economic stick.
My “Method” (If You Can Call It That)
When I write, I’m essentially trying to:
- Make technical stuff make sense – Drawing on my engineering background to explain complex ideas without making readers want to throw their devices out the window
- Cut through the nonsense – Translating corporate-speak and tech jargon into something resembling human language
- Connect unexpected dots – Finding the weird intersections between technology, economics, and human psychology (there are more than you’d think)
- Provide actual useful advice – Because articles that just point out problems without solutions make me want to scream into the void
- Consider multiple angles – Since most interesting questions don’t have simple answers, despite what the internet would have you believe
My writing process involves equal parts research, critical thinking, and staring into space while my coffee gets cold. Somehow, it works.
The Career Backstory (Abbreviated Version)
My peculiar professional journey spans:
- Information Security – Where I learned that humans, not computers, are usually the weakest link
- Risk Management – Professional catastrophizing that taught me to always have a backup plan
- Renewable Energy – Making electricity without hastening the apocalypse
- Engineering – Applied problem-solving with equations I now primarily use to calculate optimal pizza-to-person ratios
This wildly non-linear path means I can speak both “engineering” and “human” fluently, a surprisingly rare bilingual skill that turns out to be pretty useful for explaining complex topics without inducing narcolepsy.
Let’s Connect About Words
Have an interesting writing project? Need someone who can explain technical concepts without boring everyone to tears? I’m selectively taking on freelance work that intrigues me or challenges me to think in new ways.
Just don’t ask me to write your company’s mission statement unless you’re prepared for something more interesting than “synergistically leveraging core competencies.”
Note: Links to individual articles will be updated faster than I respond to emails about extended car warranties.
